localization

[Article still incomplete]

(aka l10n) Process of adapting a software or document for a specific locale.

This process is certainly not limited to translation. Localizing a typical software may include the following tasks:
- Identifying content to translate
- Figuring out how to access it
- Translating content
- Rebuilding graphics as necessary
- Resizing the dialog to fit the new content
- Changing the hotkeys
- Validating that the software still works as indeeded
- Validating the translation at runtime
- Updating sotware documentation with localized screenshots

Depending how well the software has been internationalized these tasks may be more or less trivial.
