The Localization Industry Standards Association is non profit association founded in 1990 in Geneva, Switzerland. It regroups over 200 companies from the GIL (globalization, internationalization, localization) industries. The goal of the organization is to provide best practice, business guidelines, and multilingual communication standards for translation and localization workflow, and enterprise globalization.

LISA organizes 4 conferences every year: 2 in the U.S, one in Europe and one in Asia.
