Hiragana

Japanese phonetic syllabary composed of 46 different characters. The symbols are cursive or curvilinear in style. All sounds in the Japanese language can be expressed with just Hiragana and it is the first writing system taught to Japanese children. It is also used to input the pronunciation of Kanji characters when necesary. See Kanji, Katakana and Romanji.
